A TRUE SIKH SPIRIT

In context to the title, a short Sakhi about A TRUE Sikh, BHAI KANHAIYA ji will be more helpful.

Bhai Kanhaiya ji, a devout (devoted) & peace loving Sikh from village Sodhar, Gujranwala.1705 was a time when Anandpur Sahib was invaded by the Mukhal Imperial Army. Bhai Kanhaiya ji was visiting Sri Anandpur Sahib during this time. Many of the soldiers, both friends & foes (enemy) found injured at the battlefield, were served with water by him without making any distinction on either basis.

GURU GOBIND SINGH ji noticed his selfless service & asked him, “Why has he been resuscitating (saving or reviving) all soldiers including that of enemy?

Bhai Kanhaiya ji replied: “O Guru, YOU taught me that The Creator resides in all (saare ik GURU di Jot han, sab de vich GURU vasda hai) & I don’t consider anyone’s religion while serving them.”

Guru Gobind Singh ji was too pleased at his response & honored the true Sikh saying: “You are truly a Holy Man. You have been acting in a True Sikh Spirit.”

Guruji gave him an ointment & asked him to dress their wounds & help them in any way needed in addition to serving water.

This short Story exemplifies well GURU’s teachings:
